Sweet lord. So we're stopping. Providing we can find a way to finagle the trip to be in Liberal Kansas on a day other than Sunday. So..... that's my project for today. Who knew Kansas was going to be the highlight of my trip? Between this and Lawrence (hi, I'm a fan girl, it's totally nice to meet you) I can't handle it!

WHO KNEW?!
That there was a yellow brick road in Kansas? Liberal, Kansas to be exact. As well as a replica of Dorothy's house and a museum that one travels by way of the yellow brick road?!

Told you you'd jinx us...
Okay, like my pessimistic (told you you that you'd jinx us. Do you listen? NOPE!) best friend has already informed everyone (side note - this blog looks like an easter egg with all the different colors) Nathanson is a bum that canceled his show (circumstances in his control or not, he should've checked with us first before canceling. Hear me, Matt?!), but RENT it is.
Which, really... could there be a better reason for us to drive cross country? Adam Pascal, AND -- ANTHONY RAPP. Hello, first Mark Cohen. One thing I didn't take into account until just this second is the RENT movie and how many people know of them and will see the show for that reason. Musicals into Movies make me sad.
Moving on.
I changed the hotel reservations. The plans are as follows:
March 4th:
Leave work at 12:3oPM Central Time. We will arrive in Omaha, Nebraska that night.
March 5th:
Leave Nebraska and drive 15 hours to Utah; this will be the longest leg of the trip that we're doing in one stretch.
March 6th:
Utah to California! We'll arrive in LA early enough to hang out that night and most of the next day since the show doesn't start until 8PM. So... we need to think of things to do! Kate's never been, so it'll be fun to (vaguely) show her around (I'm going to attempt to not get us killed, maimed, or other wise hurt in any way)
March 8th:
We drive from California slightly out of our way to the Grand Canyon. It's 2 hours off the plan, but we can't be THAT close to it and not go see it. So from there to our hotel in Santa Fe!
March 9th:
Travel day to Lawrence, Kansas! I'm probably more excited to go see Lawrence than LA, but that's because I'm odd. I'll post more about things to do in the different cities as I find them.
March 10th:
Lawrence to home! And then we have off March 11th to recover.
So... that sums up the itinerary! Now off to make a new header graphic since the stupid dates changed.

Validation!
So, I was right. Yup, it didn't happen. This appeared on Matt's website:
fri 1-9-09
Jewel Dates Cancelled
Though we never like to cancel tour dates, due to circumstances outside of Matt's control, the shows in support of Jewel have been cancelled. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase. Any additional information, including more tour dates in 2009, will be announced here. Stay tuned!
So yeah. I was right. Pessimist or not.
HOWEVER! Kelly happened to find out today that RENT is playing in LA that same week... starring... Adam... Pas... cal. THE Adam Pascal. The man to beat all men since I was 18. Ten years - hot damn, I'm old!
Anyway. So that's the new plan. And this one, since I'm buying tickets in like 3 days, is going to happen. You hear me?! It is going to happen! Vacation sheets have been submitted, hotel reservations are about the be changed... it will happen! Now that I've screamed at the Gods about it for a while I suppose I'll take off.

Kelly's Intro Post
Yo. Unlike Kate, I do not hate blogger; nor am I pessimist. If you think that it's not going to happen, it probably won't. ergo -- this is gonna happen! Shut your mouth about anything other than positive thinking. You'll jinx us.
So. Road trip 2009! Kate and I attempt to go on an annual road trip... normally it's to places that we can get to in a day drive and back in a weekend, just so we don't have to take off of work. However, this is the mother of all our road trips.
We will be heading west through Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and finally California. We will be staying in California for 2 days, then heading back home. Since we're driving so far, there was no way we were going to take the same route back. SO. East we're traveling through Arizona (stopping at the grand canyon), New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and then back home!
We'll see how it goes.
I just reserved all the rooms, so we're all good! (We're staying in Lawrence!!! AH!)

Kat's 1st Post
I am displeased! A lot displeased, in fact! I just finished posting (twice) about how I hate Blogger. And it ate my post. Touche, Blogger... Touche.
Alright, so since Blogger ate my original post, here is the Cliff's Notes of what it said:
1) I hate Blogger.
2) Vroom, Kelly, for creating this.
3) I'm a pessimist and still not 100% certain this road trip will occur.
4) I hope I'm proven wrong on point #3.
Let's try this again...
